Antioxidant function

What do we mean by antioxidant function?

The body has natural defence systems that are both innate and acquired. A balanced, healthy diet helps the body to strengthen its defences.

The body’s defences are constantly tested by some chemical reactions that produce the so-called free radicals.

When produced in excess, free radicals accelerate cell ageing, compromising the function of cells and tissues, and can cause some degenerative diseases. This happens when there is a high metabolic effort, such as increased physical activity, or external factors such as atmospheric pollution, UV radiation, chemical agents and stress.

The substances with antioxidant action are able to combat free radicals and slow down oxidation reactions.

To help the body’s immune system, ApportAL® products contain elements with an important antioxidant action, including:

Vitamin C, vitamin E and Selenium: they have an antioxidant action that neutralises the free radicals that attack the cells in the immune system.

Coenzyme Q10: coenzyme Q10 is essential for the correct functioning of many organs and for maintaining good physical efficiency. It helps to supply energy to the cells, and has an antioxidant action.

Zinc: zinc is an essential nutrient for human health as it has very many functions all over the body, especially in the constitution and functioning of enzymes, nucleic acids and proteins.
